Hastings resident, Joseph D. "Joe" Wynn, 67, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016, peacefully with his family by his side at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings.
Rosary and funeral service will be Wednesday, January 27, 2016; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Family requests those attending the service wear casual dress. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to DaVita Dialysis Center- Hastings. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26, 2016; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with family present 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Joe was born November 5, 1948 in Hastings to Francis D. and Alice M. (Heitmann) Wynn. He graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1968. After graduation he worked for Vontz Paving Inc and Werner Construction Company. During the construction off season he worked for Art Kitten at Kitty's Bar. In 1979 Joe began his career as a truck driver for Pick's Pack-Hauler until his retirement due to health reasons. In 1991 he received the Driver of the Month Award from Nebraska Trucker Magazine for achieving 2 Million Miles without an accident. Joe said that many miles were two trips to the moon and back. He enjoyed seeing all that there was to see while driving. He also liked to fish with family and friends at Harlan County and hunting.
Joseph D. "Joe" Wynn was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jonathon Wynn.
