Joyce Bohlen

Former Glenvil resident Joyce L. Bohlen, 86, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at College View Assisted Living & Memory Support, Hastings, NE.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday, November 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil with Pastor Rob Garton officiating. Burial will be at Glenvil Cemetery in Glenvil. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with family present 5-7 p.m., and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil, NE.

Joyce was born on October 1, 1933, in Union County, IA to Virgil & Cora (Nitzche) Sherman. She moved to Hastings in 1941 from Iowa. Joyce graduated from Glenvil High School in 1951. She married Dale H. Bohlen on November 4, 1951, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil; he preceded her in death on May 4, 2012.

Joyce was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil. She was also a member of the Glenvil American Legion Auxiliary Post #26. Joyce enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, and attending their activities and birthdays.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale H. Bohlen; son, Richard Bohlen, granddaughter-in-law, Haley Bohlen; and two sisters.
