Joyce M. Halbmaier

Hastings resident Joyce M. Halbmaier, 77, passed away after an 8-month-long courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.    

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 11, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Benjamin Siebert officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. with family present 3-5 p.m. Sunday, December 10, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital or Grace Cancer Foundation. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Joyce was born July 9, 1946, in Chester, NE to Dale and Marie (Degner) Alloway. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1964. Joyce married Stanley Halbmaier on July 6, 1965.

Joyce worked for Mary Lanning Healthcare in the laundry department for 33 years and was a camp host for 7 years at Mormon Island in Doniphan. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Joyce was a salt and pepper shaker collector and enjoyed cross-stitching, needlepoint, camping, and reading. Spending time with her family was a top priority for Joyce, she loved to travel and go on cruises, going on walks with her sister, and attending her grandchildren’s activities.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; 8 siblings; great-granddaughter, Carly Halbmaier; son-in-law, Dave Dack; and father-in-law, Ervin Halbmaier.
