Judith Long

Hastings resident Judith B. Long, 79, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, at Berean Bible Church in Hastings with Pastor Paul Knott officiating. Family burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 4, at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Memorials may be given to the Berean Bible Church. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday with family present 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Judie was born May 4, 1939, in Hastings, NE to Silas W. & Margaret E. (Primrose) Binderup. She married Dr. Walter E. Long on May 28, 1960; he preceded her in death on June 30, 2014. Judie taught school in Burwell and Curtis, NE.

Judie was a member of Berean Bible Church in Hastings, and former member of PEO and Eastern Star in Curtis, NE. She moved back to Hastings from Curtis in 1990.

She was known for collecting mouse figurines for their cuteness and giraffes for their graceful necks and long eyelashes. She enjoyed expressing her artistic and creative side through singing and music, fine arts, cooking, and crafts. If you had the pleasure of knowing her personally, you also know that she was committed to the color blue and chocolate. She was a steadfast Christian, wife, mother, friend, and skillful peacemaker.  She will be missed deeply.

Judie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter E. Long, D.V.M.; and sister, Karen Gerhart.
