Judy Hoffman

Hastings resident, Judy R. Hoffman, 76, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Homestead, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Thursday, December 1, 2016; 6:00 P.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 2, 2016; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, Crosier Apostolate, St. Michael's Catholic Church or Adams CentralSchools Foundation. Visitation will be Thursday, December 1, 2016; 9:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. at Butler Volland and at 5:00 P.M. at the church. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.

Judy was born June 22, 1940 in Guide Rock, Nebraska to Frank & Gladys (Portenier) Havel. She graduated from St. Cecilia High School in 1957 and attended business school in Omaha. On February 20, 1960, Judy married Lawrence D. Hoffman in St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Judy farmed for many years with Larry in the Juniata area. After his death in 1985, she worked as a personal banker for American Charter for ten years until her retirement in 1995. Judy also worked at the Animal Clinic for several years.

Judy was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, where she was also lector, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Crosier Apostolate, past board member of the YWCA, Goodwill and FCE Club. Judy served as a Board Member of the Adams County Ag Society, Board Member of Hastings Chamber Ag Committee, past President of St. Cecilia's Alumni Committee and volunteered at the Hastings Public Library and Hastings Museum. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, and helped with the Adams County Election Commission.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Larry.
