Juniata resident, Judy K. Shaw, 64, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Tuesday, October 23, 2012; 2:00 P.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Royal Family Kids Camp. Visitation will be Monday, October 22, 2012; 3:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service at the church.
Judy was born June 10, 1948 in Hastings, Nebraska to Harold & Milrae (Albers) Gartner. She was baptized and confirmed at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings. She graduated from Giltner High School in 1966 and Mary Lanning School of Nursing in 1969. Judy worked as a nurse in Nebraska, Colorado, Texas, and Michigan. She joined the Air Force in 1974 and left as a Major in 1985. She was united in marriage to Jim Shaw on August 16, 1985. She was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was a Stephan's Minister and was also a member of the Mid Nebraska Artist Club, and was a counselor at Royal Family Kids Camp. She volunteered at Mary Lanning and served as President of the Auxiliary Board from 2009-2011. She also taught painting classes in home for several years.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Harold Gartner.
