June Jorgensen

Hastings resident, June G. Jorgensen, 92, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, September 22, 2008; 10:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. William G. Nottage-Tacey officiating. Burial will be in Osco Cemetery, south of Norman, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Saturday, September 20, 2008; 1PM-9PM, Sunday, September 21, 2008; 1PM-9PM with family present 6PM-8PM at the funeral home and Monday, September 22, 2008; 1 hr. prior to service at the church.

Mrs. Jorgensen was born June 22, 1916 in Holstein, Nebraska to Lloyd & Margaret (Holtze) Reed. She graduated from Bladen High School, Bladen, Nebraska, having taken Normal Training. She also attended Kearney State Teachers College for two years. She was a school teacher, serving many rural schools in Adams and Kearney counties. She married Wilbur B. Jorgensen in rural Adams county at the home of her parents in 1946. In 1949, she retired from teaching to begin a family. When her daughters were school age, she returned to the work force. She worked at the Hastings Regional Center in the Alcoholic Service, retiring from there after twenty years. June was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church and was also involved in many clubs and organizations, especially 8 and 40, past presidents parley both with the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Jorgensen was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gale & Dale Reed.
