Karen Spanel

Hastings resident, Karen J. Spanel, 66, died Saturday, October 23, 2004 at her home.

Karen was born January 25, 1938 in McCool Junction, Nebraska to Forest H. & Leona M. (Holoch) Woods. She attended grade school at District C23 in Gates, Nebraska and graduated from Broken Bow High School, Broken Bow, Nebraska in 1955. On October 26, 1955, she married Phillip J. Spanel. She was a partner in a family owned business in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Upon retirement, she resided in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She returned to Broken Bow, Nebraska in October of 2000. She then moved from Broken Bow to Hastings, Nebraska in December of 2003. She enjoyed recording her family's life in scrapbooks.

Karen was preceded in death by her father and husband.

The body was cremated. A private burial was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
