Karoly Vanky

Karoly "Karl" Zoltan Vanky, 85, of Hastings, Nebraska died early Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial Service will be Monday, June 9, 2014; 11:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating Private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church.

He was born March 29, 1929, in Lucenec, Slovakia (formerly Losonc, Hungary). In 1954, Karl married Eleonora "Ellen" K. Szeplaki in Budapest, Hungary. Karl was a loving, selfless, easy going, intelligent person with a quick wit who easily made friends wherever he went. He loved the outdoors, traveling, gardening, reading, and spending time with family, especially his three grandchildren. Karl was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska. Karl was a mechanical engineer who received his Engineering Master's degree from Budapest, Hungary, which was also acknowledged by the University in Dusseldorf Germany.

Karl was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria M. McClain (Vanky); parents, Karoly Gall Vanky & Ilonka Vanky from Lucenec; and sister-in-law & husband, Dora & Laszlo Zsemlye.
