Kathleen Tebbe

Hastings resident, Kathleen Emma (Maas) Tebbe, 71, passed away January 19, 2019, at St. Francis Skilled Care Center in Grand Island.

Rosary is 7 p.m. Friday, January 25, at Butler Volland Chapel. Rite of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 26, at Butler Volland Chapel with Father Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later. Book signing is 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born in Kearney on February 2, 1947, to Edwin and Laura (Nickel) Maas. She graduated from Elm Creek High School in 1965 and thereafter attended Grand Island School of Business. She was a telephone operator until 1984 at Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph. Kathleen enjoyed ceramics, sewing, and embroidery.  She collected cookbooks and was the integral drive behind the Hastings Catholic Community Cookbook.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister Nadine.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dennis, whom she married on October 12, 1968, at Immaculate Conception in Elm Creek, NE. She is the mother of Michelle Tebbe, Grand Island, NE, and mother of heart to Amanda Schmitz, Grand Island, NE. She is the grandmother of two, all of whom survive her: Emma, 21 and Bryce, 19. She is survived by all her siblings: Loretta Tebbe, Hastings, NE.; Rev. Duane Maas, O’Fallon, MO.; Janet Reichert, Elm Creek, NE.; and Dan Maas, Fullerton, NE.
