Hastings resident, Kathryn Elizabeth (Mohrlang) Rutt, 84, of 1530 S. Wabash, died Monday, December 6, 2004 at Perkins Pavilion

Services will be Thursday, December 9, 2004; 2:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with
Rev. Dr. Lee Wigert officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.

Mrs. Rutt was born December 18, 1919 to Conrad & Anna (Schmidt) Mohrlang in Hastings, Nebraska. She was baptized on June 16, 1920 and confirmed March 25, 1934 in the New York Avenue Congregational Church. She graduated from Hastings High School on June 2, 1937. On August 9, 1947, she married Raymond Rutt at the New York Avenue Congregational Church in Hastings. They lived in Broken Bow and Mason City, Nebraska before moving south of Hastings. Mrs. Rutt worked at the F.W. Woolworth Store as a sales clerk and helped in the office. She later worked at the Hastings Naval Ammunition Depot during WWII. After the war, she and Raymond ran a Grade A Dairy at Broken Bow, Nebraska. They later were partners in a Hereford Ranch at Mason City, Nebraska. They returned to Hastings in 1958. In 1969, they started 'Rutt Lawn and Garden Service' which they operated until Ray's retirement in 1981. Kathryn was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1970 , but was able to care for her mother form many years. They always maintained an active interest in their extended families of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rutt was a member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. She was a member of the New York Avenue Congregational Church, having served for many years as its Financial Secretary.

Mrs. Rutt was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Harold.

Brothers: Archie Mohrlang - Portland, OR
Raymond Mohrlang - Hastings, NE
Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Memorial may be given to Nebraska Arthritis Foundation or New York Ave. Congregational Church.

VISITATION: Wed. 12-08-04; 9am-9pm
Thur. 12-09-04; 9am until service time
