Former Hastings resident Kayla Marie (Boner) Jacobson, 32, left us suddenly on March 24, 2019, due to a tragic car accident. Our hearts are broken forever.
Emotionally we have no service plans at this time. We want to thank all for prayers. Please hold your loved ones longer and a little more often. Memorials may be given to your favorite charity or local animal rescue. Cremation will take place and burial will be held at a later date. Book signing will be Thursday, April 4, Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Kayla loved and was loved by all the people that played a part in her life.
Kayla was born on May 15, 1986, to Albert & Pam Boner at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Her baptism was February 26, 1995, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings. Kayla graduated from St. Cecilia High school in 2004. During her youth, she earned almost 60 gold, silver, and bronze medals in track. She lettered in varsity track, cross country, and vocals. Kayla also held a Jr. Black Belt in Hapkido. She was very proud completing the 38
th
Lincoln National Guard Marathon.
She received her Bachelors of Science degree in English Writing in 2008 from Wayne State College, Wayne, NE.
Kayla married Bryan Jacobson on April 16, 2009, and moved to Killeen, TX. She returned to Hastings in 2013. Between Texas and Nebraska, Kayla worked as an optician for five years. Then in 2016, she became a registered nurse through Creighton University College of Nursing – Mary Lanning Campus, where she graduated with honors.
She met her boyfriend, Jason Willits and moved to a farmhouse near Manhattan, KS. She had big dreams of a family and raising animals. She was looking forward to spring and planting her seedlings in her garden. Kayla also enjoyed creating Vegan meals.
She was currently employed at Irwin Army Community Hospital at Fort Riley in Junction City, KS. Kayla loved all of her co-workers turned friends throughout the years.
We are so proud of the beautiful woman she became. Many, many things about her will be missed…her beautiful smile and eyes, her voice, her goofiness, and “British” accent.
Kayla was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Twila Ailes, Red Cloud, NE; and grandparents, Albert W. Boner Sr., Hastings, NE, Catalina Johnson, San Diego, CA, and Ed & Retha West, San Diego, CA.
