Hastings resident, Kenneth L. Stone, 80, of 313 Oswego Avenue, died Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Edgewood Vista, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Thursday, January 29, 2009; 1:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association. Visitation will be Monday, January 26, 2009; 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.., Tuesday, January 27, 2009; 9:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 28, 2009; 9:00 A.M-9:00P.M. and Thursday, January 29, 2009; 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Stone was born October 3, 1928 in Indianola, Nebraska to Leslie Stone & Irene (Morosic) (Stone) Blume. He attended Indianola School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War from January 30, 1951 to October 29, 1952. He married Betty (Borrell) Schmidt on August 9, 1965, after the death of her 1st husband, Harold M. Schmidt. He was an electric motor repairman at Hastings Battery & Electric for 40 years. He was a member of American Legion, D.A.V., and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his parents; Leslie Stone & Irene (Morosic) (Stone) Blume; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Samuel & Anna Borrell; sister & brothers-in-law, Barb & John Janssen, Norbert Herz and Sam Borrell.
