Larry Placke

Grand Island resident, Larry J. Placke, 65, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.

A fellowship will be Saturday, November 14, 2009; 6P.M. - 10:00P.M. with a Remberance service at 8P.M. at the Holiday Inn Midtown, 2503 South Locust St. Grand Island, Nebraska. Private family burial at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family.

Larry was born March 29, 1944 in Hastings, Nebraska to Arnold & Delores R. (Stamer) Placke. He graduated from Superior High School in 1962. He attended Fairbury Junior College and Kearney State College. He married Kay L. Johnson on January 31, 1964 and later they divorced. In the late1960's they moved to Grand Island where he worked for the Cornhusker Ordinance Plant. He bought the Wheeler Bar. Then he and his brother Arny built the Brick Bar; he retired in 2006 due to health problems.

Larry was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Minnie and Frank Placke and Henry and Helena Stamer.
