Hastings resident Larry D. Swayze, 78, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at his home.
Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. A private family burial will be at Blue Hill Cemetery in Blue Hill. The book signing will be 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday, January 13, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Larry D. Swayze Memorial Fund to be distributed to his favorite charities. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Larry was born July 25, 1946, in Norton, KS, to Ellsworth and Dorothy (Howat) Swayze. He graduated from Juniata High School in 1964. Larry served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1966 to 1972. He married Linda D. Rose on September 2, 1967, at Blue Hill United Methodist Church.
Larry worked as a salesman for Business Supply Co., Hastings Casket, and Aurora Casket Co. in Hastings. He was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, American Legion in Blue Hill, and was on the advisory board for Good Samaritan Village.
Larry was a friend to all. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. He was an avid outdoorsman where fishing was his passion. His greatest joy in life was his family. Larry was a very proud husband, father, and grandfather.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; and brother, Mike Swayze.
