LaRue Ivor Rader was born on May 20, 1930, the first child of Glen & Lila Rader. His paternal grandparents were Charles & Martha Rader, and his maternal grandparents were Reverend Arvin G. Swanson, and wife, Bertha. LaRue graduated from Trumbull High School in 1947, and attended a summer program at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He married Dolores C. Clason in January 1951; they moved into the house where his grandparents, Charles & Martha Rader had lived. In December of 1951 he received his draft notice, and was inducted in February, 1952 into the U. S. Army. Basic training was in Camp Gordon, Georgia, and he then was transferred in May, 1952 to radio school in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Having completed that school by November, 1952 he was shipped to Korea. During all of 1953 he served in North Korea on the eastern front, with the 5th Field Artillery Group. He began his assignment as a field radio repairman, and moved up in rank to Sergeant and became Chief of the Radio Section. LaRue was very proud to have served his country. Returning home in January, 1954, LaRue began farming and trucking. He enjoyed his work, his friends, and his family. He served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Trumbull Rural Fire District for more than fifty years, and was Chair of the Administrative Council of the Trumbull United Methodist Church.
