Juniata resident, LaVaughn L. Faber, 61, of 205 South Republican, died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at his home.
Services will be Friday, October 3, 2008; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Mary Lanning Hospice. Visitation will be Thursday, October 2, 2008; 1:00 P.M. -9:00 P.M. with family present from 6:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. & Friday, October 3, 2008; 9:00 A.M. until service time.
Mr. Faber was born April 8, 1947 in Hastings, Nebraska to Paul & Margie (Hahlweg) Faber. He graduated from St. Cecilia's Catholic School and attended Central Community College. He worked for Bob & Jerry's Auto Shop before serving in the United States Marines during the Viet Nam War from May 9, 1967 until March 24, 1970. After his discharge, he returned to Hastings and worked as a service technician for Faber Gas Service for 24 years. The business was sold, becoming Dial Heating & Air Conditioning where he continued to work for 17 years. On March 28, 1998, he married Sheila M. Bither in Hastings. He was a member of Juniata Community Church, Eagles and a lifetime member of V.F.W and was Post Commander in 1983 and District Commander from 1983-1985.
Mr. Faber was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
