LaVaun Schlachter

Hastings resident, LaVaun J. Schlachter, 92, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Thursday, October 24, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 23, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

LaVaun was born April 24, 1921 in Trumbull, Nebraska to Harold & Gladys (Behrends) O'Donnell. She graduated from Trumbull High School in 1940. LaVaun married Willard V. Schlachter in November 1941; he preceded her in death on October 2, 1982. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband, Willard on the farm. LaVaun was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, traveling, and playing cards.

LaVaun was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard V. Schlachter; son, Richard Schlachter; brother, Elton O'Donnell; and great-granddaughter, Sarah Schlachter.
