Hastings resident, LaVerda M. Baehr, 87, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 due to an automobile accident near Hickman, Nebraska.
Services will be Saturday, April 1, 2017; 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Warneke officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Friday, March 31, 2017; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with the family present from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., and one hour prior to service at the church.
LaVerda Mae was born on April 4, 1929 to Ernest and Florence (Kort) Krueger of Ayr, Nebraska. She attended schools at Ayr, District #9, and Trinity Lutheran Parochial School in Blue Hill. She graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1946. She was a graduate of Grand Island Business College and worked for The Sathman Company in Grand Island and Nebraska Public Power System in Hastings.
On August 28, 1949 she married Karl Baehr at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill. They farmed in the Hastings area and at one time she worked several years at Villa Grace - Good Samaritan Village in the food department. Karl preceded her in death on July 9, 2007.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid/LWML for over 60 years and enjoyed serving in many capacities. She enjoyed gardening, music, traveling, and especially spending time with her family and friends.
LaVerda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Karl, brother Robert Krueger, sisters Mary Hongsermeier and Leola Schroeder, brothers-in-law Carey Dealey and Dale Schroeder.
Survivors include her three children Beverly (Tom) Andersen of Blair, NE, Alan Baehr of Hickman, NE and Warren (Mary) Baehr of Kearney, MO; Grandchildren Shauna (Angel) Salazar of Omaha, NE, Rory (Mikki) Mullally of Blair, NE, David (Yolanda) Baehr of Shawnee, KS, Alicia Baehr of Cincinnati, OH, Christine Baehr of Kansas City, KS and Mark Baehr of Kearney, MO; Step-grandchildren Brad (Jane) Andersen, Gary (Abranda) Andersen, and Abbi Andersen all of Blair, NE; five Great-Grand-Children; Sister Kathryn Dealey of Ogallala, NE; Sister-in-law Ruby Krueger of Blue Hill, NE; and Brother-in-law Gary Hongsermeier of Republican City, NE.
Memorials may be given to District Lutheran Women's Missionary League or Zion Lutheran Church.
