Former Hastings area resident, LaVergne I. Oelschlager, 91, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Louisville Care Center, Louisville, Nebraska.
Memorial Services will be Tuesday, October 24, 2017; 11:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Private family burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Central Community College Foundation. There will be no viewing or visitation. Book signing will be Monday, October 23, 2017; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
LaVergne was born December 17, 1925, in Phillipsburg, Kansas to William John & Augusta E. (Dusin) Fink. She graduated from Hastings High School and United Airlines Flight Attendant School. LaVergne married Lester William Oelschlager on August 23, 1946; he preceded her in death on October 18, 2007.
LaVergne worked at Hastings Ammunition Depot, typesetter for Hastings Tribune, and worked in sales for Montgomery Ward. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and helped with Meals on Wheels. LaVergne was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 71 years where she was involved as Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School, Stephen Ministries and many other church and volunteer activities.
LaVergne was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Glenn Fink; husband, Lester Oelschlager; and sister-in-law & spouse, Gladys & Christian Wicht.
