LaVerne Horton

Hastings resident, LaVerne J. Horton, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Haven Home, Kenesaw, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Tuesday, May 3, 2011; 7:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 4, 2011; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial with military rites will be Wednesday, May 4, 2011; 3:00 P.M. in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, May 2, 2011; 10:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 3, 2011; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family 5:30 P.M. - 7:30P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.

LaVerne was born July 3, 1930 in Roseland, Nebraska to John & Sarah (Willmes) Horton. On January 19, 1953 he married Evelyn Parr. LaVerne served with the U.S. Army from January 1953 until December 1955. He worked as a realtor in the area. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus and former member of the Eagles Club.

LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents.
