Lavon M. Schroer

Hastings resident Lavon M. Schroer, 71, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE. surrounded by her family.    

Rosary will be 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Private family burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Lavon’s wishes were to be cremated, a book signing will be 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Michael’s Altar Society, Start Over Rover, or Project Pink’d. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Lavon was born January 6, 1952, in Hastings, NE to Walter and Lula M. (Lindeman) Buhr. She graduated from Roseland High School in 1970 and received her Associate's Degree from Central Community College in Hastings as a dental hygienist. Lavon married James “Jim” Schroer on May 5, 1973, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Lawrence, NE.

Lavon worked at various businesses in the Hastings area as a cashier, pharmacy technician, and in retirement as an in-home care provider. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. Lavon was also a member of a coffee club called the “Perfect Blend.” She loved her dog “Baxter” and going for walks with him.  Lavon enjoyed gardening, camping, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Lavon was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Patty Buhr.
