LaVonne Mullen

Harvard resident, LaVonne E. Mullen, 86, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Thursday, December 27, 2012; 1:00 P.M. at Harvard First United Methodist Church, Harvard, Nebraska with Pastor Travis King officiating. Burial will be in Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Harvard First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 26, 2012; 2:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

LaVonne was born July 23, 1926 in Saronville, Nebraska to Reuben W. & Pearl (Johnson) Pontine. She married Howard Mullen on September 14, 1943; he preceded her in death in April 2005. She worked as a cook at the Harvard Nursing Home and also worked at Wal-Mart. In 2005, LaVonne moved to Hastings from Harvard. LaVonne was a member of Harvard First United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Evening Believers, and United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday school and piano lessons, and loved to garden.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Mullen; son, Gene Mullen; son-in-law, Gene Griess; and sister and brother-in-law, Jean & Don Runcie.
