Lawrence Dollison

Hastings resident, Lawrence 'Larry' Lemuel Dollison, 61, of 747 N. Saunders, died Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Bryan LGH Medical Center East, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Services will be Saturday, September 23, 2006; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. David L. Speicher officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 20, 2006; 1pm-5pm, Thursday, September 21, 2006; 9am-9pm, Friday, September 22, 2006; 9am-9pm at Butler-Volland Funeral Home and Saturday, September 23, 2006; 9am until service time. Memorials to the family.

Mr. Dollison was born was born in Muncie, Indiana on December 10, 1944 to Essie Willie & Rosie Leigh (Polk) Dollison. He attended Muncie Central High School and was a member of Union Baptist Church in Muncie. He served in the United States Army from November 16, 1960 until January 29, 1964. He was in Germany for 3½ years. He was employed with International Harvester and Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois before coming to Hastings, Nebraska, where he was employed at the Hastings Regional Center for 25 years. During this same time period, he met, proposed and married Vicky Cates, making it legal in 1995. The two shared an 18 year relationship. He was a member of the Hastings African American Awareness Group and also of the Community Action Partnership through the Hastings Police Department. He attended Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene.

Mr. Dollison was preceded in death by his father, Essie Willie Dollison, mother, Rosie Leigh Dollison, sister, Dorothy 'Kit' Waters, grandparents, Homer & Millie Dollison and Willie & Nancy Polk.
