Leander Nowak

August 3, 1918 — January 5, 2005

Hastings resident, Leander 'Lee' Nowak ,86, of 2839 W. 7th St. died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at his home.

Rosary will be Sunday, January 9, 2005; 5:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 10, 2005; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.

Mr. Nowak was born on August 3, 1918 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to Phillip 'Felix' & Victoria (Jaworski) Nowak. He served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII from February 17, 1941 until his discharge on February 17, 1947. On August 21, 1954, he married Anna 'Ann' E. Langdon at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska. They moved from St. Paul, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1970. He was a foreman for the Nebraska Department of Roads. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Men's Club.

Mr. Nowak was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
