Long time Hastings resident, Lee L. (Fritz) Jahnke, 84, of 1716 Imperial Drive, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Thursday, May 13, 2004; 10:30 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska.
Mrs. Jahnke was born January 17, 1920 in Western, Nebraska to Gustav & Emma (Nickel) Fritz. She grew up in the Western area and graduated from Western High School in 1938. She was an elementary school teacher in Saline County, Nebraska in 1939/1940. On June 1, 1941, she married George F. Jahnke in Western, Nebraska. They lived in Fairbury, Nebraska and Falls City, Nebraska before moving to Hastings, Nebraska in 1945. They owned and operated Jahnke's Agri-Home Center from 1947-1990, where she served as secretary-treasurer. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Ruth Circle and was a founding member of the Lamplighter's Sunday School class. She also was a member of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and Ladies Shrine Auxiliary, where she was active in the sewing club.
Mrs. Jahnke was preceded in death by her parents.
