Hastings resident, Leo D. Dettman, 75, 1011 N. Baltimore, died Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at his home
Memorial service will be Tuesday, August 13, 2002; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska
Leo D. Dettman was born January 28, 1927 in Shubert, Nebraska to Cecil & Frieda (Orr) Dettman. He served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War from April of 1945 to November 29, 1951. On January 17, 1953, he married Alta M. Valentine in Omaha, Nebraska. He worked at the Hastings Naval Ammunition Depot until it closed in 1965 and was transferred to Naval Aviation Facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he worked until his 30 year retirement in 1974. He returned to the Hastings area and worked for Pinkerton Security at Mary Lanning Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of VFW and American Rifle Association.
Leo D. Dettman was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister.
