Hastings resident, Leo Gene Pavelka, 72, of 421 Lakeside Drive, died Monday, September 25, 2006 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Saturday, September 30, 2006; 10:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Carl H. Rehwaldt officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials to Willa Cather Foundation or Pheasant's Forever. Visitation will be Friday, September 29, 2006; 9am-5pm at the funeral home & Saturday, September 30, 2006; 1 hr. prior to service at the church.
Mr. Pavelka was born September 9, 1934 in Bladen, Nebraska to Leo P. & Eleanor (Lemmerman) Pavelka. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska with his family at an early age. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1952 and served in the United States Army from September 18, 1953 until August 29, 1955. In 1958, he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Hastings College. He worked at Autonetics in California on the Minuteman Missile Program. When he returned to Hastings, he worked at Dutton-Lainson and was also a real estate agent. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Mr. Pavelka was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Lydia Pavelka and one sister, Valeria Hempel.
