Leo Wissing

Hastings resident, Leo G. Wissing, 83, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society - Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Tuesday, June 20, 2017; at 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 21, 2017; 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Stephen Graeve officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska, at a later date. Book signing with family present will be on Tuesday, June 20, 2017; 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Michael's Church or St. Michael's Pre-school.

Leo was born April 22, 1934 in St. Libory, Nebraska to Herman & Sophie (Ike) Wissing. He married Erma Kruse on August 25, 1953. Leo was a construction supervisor. He was an avid woodworker. He built the Altar for Perkins Chapel at Good Samaritan Village. He also built rocking horses and chairs for all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed following his grandchildren's activities. Leo was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Pete & Lawrence; 1 sister, Barbara; daughter-in-law, Susan Wissing; brother-in-law, Alvin Reimers; 2 great-grandchildren, Peyton & Ivy Wissing.
