Lee was born on December 18, 1921, on the family farm north of Ayr, Nebraska to Charles and Emma Jane (Woodworth) Kohl. She was the youngest of five children. Lee attended Leroy Country School in rural Adams County and graduated from Hastings High School in 1939. After graduating, she worked at Swift and Co. where she met her future husband, Arnold Wiens. They were married in 1940 and returned to her family farm in 1943. She lived on the farm and slept in the same bedroom she was born in until 1980, when she moved mile south. In 2002 she moved to Hastings. Lee was involved in many committees and organizations. Her favorites were being a 4-H leader, Extension Club member and managing the Extension Food Booth at the Adams County fair. Her true passion was the family farm. The family would like to thank the staff of The Homestead, Mary-Lanning Memorial Hospital and Hospice.
Leola was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, LaMoine and Pearl; two sisters, Alda Bossard and Alfreda Marsha; and a great-grandson, Brody Petersen.
