Leona Mays

Former Hastings resident, Leona V. Mays, 96, of Blue Hill Care Center, died Saturday, August 18, 2001 at Blue Hill Care Center.

Services will be Wednesday, August 22, 2001; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be in Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska.

Leona V. Mays was born August 20, 1904 at Skidmore, Missouri to Milton & Minnie (Yetter) Rounds. On March 9, 1920, she married Ralph Mays at First Christian Church, Hastings, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on December 19, 1966. She moved from Roseland, Nebraska to Hastings in 1966 and was a housekeeper at Good Samaritan Village for 21 years. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church, The Garden Club at Good Samaritan Village, A.A.R.P. and a lifetime member of Eagles Auxiliary.

Leona V. Mays was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph, 2 sons, Clayton, & Clyde Mays, 2 daughters, Grace Schmitz & Lois Dubberly, 1 great grandchild, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

Survivors include,
Daughter: Viva Trausch - Hastings, NE 1 Son-in-law 2 Daugnters-in-law Brothers: Morris Rounds - Eugene, OR
LaVerne Rounds - Sedona, AZ 19 Grandchildren 43 Great Grandchildren 41 Great-Great Grandchildren Numerous Nieces & Nephews

Memorial maybe given to Juniata Cemetery

Butler-Volland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
