Leona Schreiner

Hastings resident, Leona Cecilia Schreiner, 86, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Rosary will be Sunday, September 20, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, and Mass of Christian Burial Monday, September 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hastings, with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, September 19, 2009; 1 P.M. - 9 P.M., Sunday, September 20, 2009; 1 P.M. - 9 P.M. at the funeral home, and Monday, September 21, 2009 one hour prior to service at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Memorials may be given to St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Leona was born June 26, 1923 in Osceola, Nebraska to Louis M. & Stacia (Laska) Shemek. She married Walter "Wallie" A. Schreiner, Sr., on July 18, 1946. To this union they raised four children, eight grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Walter Schreiner passed away on October 12, 1992. She worked for the NAD and was also a housewife and mother. She attended and was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church. She was also a past member of the Altar Society.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, "Wallie"; brothers and sisters, Alois, Martin, Lawrence, and Helen.
