Lester Mohling

Former Glenvil resident, Lester Carl Mohling, 80, of Veteran's Home, Grand Island, Nebraska, died Monday, June 17, 2002 at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Service will be Friday, June 21, 2002; 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil, Nebraska, with Interim Pastors Bonnie & Les Larsen officiating. Burial with military rites by Glenvil American Legion Post 26 will be in Glenvil Cemetery, Glenvil, Nebraska.

Lester Carl Mohling was born December 19, 1921 on the family farm north of Hastings, Nebraska to Herman A. & Emma B. (Hagemeister) Mohling. He attended grade school at rural District #33 and Hastings High School. He attended a vocational technical school in Bellevue, Nebraska. He served in the United States Army during WWII from July 1942 to 1946 and again during the Korean War form 1950-1953. He married Verna Rose Wiese on June 11, 1950 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska. He later joined the Nebraska Army National Guards and was retired in 1981 with 32 years of service. In civilian life, he was a carpenter and utilities maintenance for the village of Glenvil, Nebraska for 20 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil, Nebraska. He was also a member of Eagles #592 in Hastings, AARP and a life member of American Legion Post #26 in Glenvil. He was a past member of V.F.W. and United Commercial Travelers.

Lester Carl Mohling was preceded in death by his parents, wife Verna, 3 brothers, 2 infant brothers and Lt. Col. Kenneth E. Mohling (Ret.).
