Grand Island resident, Lillian Rydberg Amick, 104, of Tiffany Square, died Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Tiffany Square.
Private family services at a later date. There will be no visitation or view as Lillian was cremated.
Mrs. Amick was born April 15, 1905 in Litchfield, Nebraska to Dr. Charles A. & Dora E. (Griffith) Rydberg. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1923 and taught school at Sheep Ranch west of Grand Island, Nebraska in 1923-1924. She graduated from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri in 1926 and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. In 1926, she married Dr. Fred V. Amick and he preceded her in death in 1957. She was a member of the Christian Science Church, an 82 year member and Past Matron of the Order of the Easter Star, Acacia Chapter # 39, Hastings, Nebraska. She was a past President of Parent Teachers Association, Daughters of the Nile, Naamah Temple #108, Hastings, Nebraska and a member of Nebraska Writers Guild. Lillian enjoyed traveling. She and her husband moved to a farm west of Doniphan in 1943, which eventually became the Amick Acres Subdivisions. Her business affiliations were the Hobby Room Antique Shop, Doniphan, working for Bullock Wilshire, Los Angeles, California and being a partner in Amick Acres Developments.
Mrs. Amick was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Fred V. Amick; son, Carl Rydberg Amick and a granddaughter, Sonja Amick Latimer.
