Lillian Barth

Hastings resident, Lillian Barth, 91, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at College View Assisted Living & Memory Support, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Thursday, August 2, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be Thursday, August 2, 2012; 1:00 P.M. in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Fund, the Heart Fund, or the Kidney Foundation. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 1, 2012; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Mrs. Barth was born on November 28, 1920 to John & Mary (Gross) Neuwirth in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She graduated from Melbeta High School in 1938. Lillian moved to Hastings in 1939 and attended Hastings Business College. She married Richard Barth on October 16, 1941 in Hastings, Nebraska. In August 1957, Mrs. Barth received her American Dental Assistants Certification making her the first certified dental assistant in Adams County. She was a charter member of the society. Mrs. Barth was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and was Superintendent of the Jr. Department for several years. Mrs. Barth arranged lay readers and took care of the alter flowers calendar for more than 30 years. She and her husband would deliver flowers to the hospitalized or homebound members following Sunday services. Mrs. Barth has been a member of WELCA since joining First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
