Hastings resident, Lloyd M. Dragoo, 87, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska.
Memorial services will be Monday, March 15, 2010; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel, Hastings with Father Joseph Walsh officiating and eulogy by Honorable William M. Connolly. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Book signing will be Saturday, March 13, 2010; 12:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. There will be no visitation as the remains were cremated. Memorials may be given to the Military Funeral Fund.
Lloyd was born May 18, 1922 in Hastings, NE to J.E. & Adda (Richie) Dragoo. He graduated from Hastings High School. On November 7, 1942 he entered the Army Air Corps, and was honorably discharged on October 17, 1945. On August 18, 1950, he married Eva Belle Ross in Grand Island, NE. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 29 ½ years. Member of American Legion Post 11, Adams County Veterans Burial Detail, UTU (United Transportation Union) and past member of Adams County Historical Society. Lloyd and wife Belle was active in Operation Lifesaver, traveling nationwide promoting railroad safety.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lorraine & Fern; brothers, Nile, Dale, Richard & Alvin Dragoo
