Former Hastings resident, Lloyd Reace Lowery, 77, of Midway, Arkansas died, Thursday, April 26, 2012 at his home with his loving partner, Beverly Clay, by his side.

Services will be Thursday, May 3, 2012; 10:00 A.M. at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home chapel, 1225 North Elm Avenue, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Tony Dawson officiating. Private family burial will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska Friday, May 4, 2012. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012; 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present, and Thursday, May 3, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings. Memorials may be given to Lloyd Reace Lowery Memorial Fund.

Lloyd was born on December 23, 1934 in Danville, Arkansas and grew up in Porterville, California. He attended Porterville Junior College followed by San Jose State College where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees. He completed his Doctor of Education training through the University of Northern Colorado in Greely, Colorado in 1973. Lloyd worked as a clinical psychologist at the Hastings Regional Center until his retirement in 1996. Lloyd enjoyed music and played bass guitar in local country western bands for many years. He was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, serving as president of the Hastings organization. Lloyd was an accomplished thespian, writing, directing and acting in many community theatre productions in both Hastings, NE and Mountain Home, AR. He volunteered countless hours bringing local theatre to life. Lloyd was a very generous man whose greatest wish for others was happiness in their lives. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Lloyd Jr. (Chuck).
