Lois Rutherford

Former Hastings resident, Lois Elizabeth (Kleier) Berlie Rutherford, 79, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society, Atkinson, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, September 29, 2015; 10:30 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar and Pastor Josh Davis officiating. Burial will immediately follow luncheon at the church in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church, AseraCare Hospice in O'Neill, or donor's choice. Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2015; 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Lois was born December 23, 1935 in Roseland, Nebraska to Arthur & Maurine (Roberts) Kleier. She grew up on a farm northeast of Prosser, Nebraska. Lois graduated from Doniphan High School in 1954. She married Richard "Dick" Berlie on July 26, 1959 at Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska; he preceded her in death. Two children were born to this union Laura and Phil Berlie. Lois married Donald Rutherford on November 27, 1964 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska. Two children were born to this union Cindy and Dave Rutherford. Lois and Donald later divorced. Her work experiences included Geiger Vondrak Welch & Dietze Ophthalmology and Hastings College where she retired in 2014. Lois was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cross-stitching and quilting.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard Berlie; and grandparents.
