Hastings resident, Loren E. Johnson, 89, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Brookstone Village, Omaha, Nebraska.
Services will be Monday, March 21, 2005; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Dr.William Deahl, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Trumbull, Nebraska.
Mr. Johnson was born May 9, 1915 to Wardie & Hattie (Carlson) Johnson on a farm near Ong, Nebraska. He attended Grove rural school and Ong High School, graduating in 1932. He later attended Coyne Radio & Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated in 1937. On February 26, 1939, he married Dorothy F. Schultz in Belleville, Kansas and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2004. He had a radio repair shop in Ong for a short time, then went to Sutton, Nebraska, where he had his shop for about a year. In December of 1938, he went to work for Uerlings Furniture and Appliance store in Hastings, Nebraska. On August 1, 1943, he and his wife purchased Super Radio & Sound Services and changed the name to Johnson's Radio Service. With the advent of television they built a building at 910 W. 3rd St. And changed the name to Johnson's Radio & TV Sales & Service. After 46 years in business, they retired July 1,1989. He was a member of the First United Methodist church, Masonic Lodge No. 50, Eagles Lodge and U.C.T, He was a past member of the Hastings Jaycees and Hastings Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy and two brothers.
