Lorene Lipovsky

Former Fairfield resident, Lorene M. Lipovsky, 88, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015, at College View Assisted Living, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Thursday, July 16, 2015; 6:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 17, 2015; 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Deweese, Nebraska with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield. Memorials may be given to Catholic Social Services. Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2015; 9:00 A.M. - 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lorene was born December 17, 1926, to John J. Sr. & Christina (Petr) Hajny at the Hajny Family Farm near Fairfield, Nebraska. Lorene graduated from Lawrence High School in 1944. On October 4, 1945, Lorene married Edward Lipovsky at the Assumption Church in Deweese. They farmed on the Little Blue River and fed cattle for 40 years. Edward preceded her in death on May 30, 2015. Lorene was a member of the Blue Bonnets Extension Club. She was a member of St. Martin's Altar Society, St. Cecilia's Altar Society, and Our Lady of Assumption Altar Society. Lorene was a member of the Fairfield Domino Club and the Lawrence Alumni Association. She was a wonderful, creative cook making the best apple strudel and decorating beautiful cakes, and made beautiful floral arrangements from her garden. She was a wonderful artist and enjoyed birds. Lorene loved to work in her flower garden and she made beautiful flower arrangements. She loved jewelry and clothes. Lorene set a beautiful holiday table and had decorations for every occasion. She was her husband's best dance partner. Most important, she was a wonderful mother and her family always came first.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward J. Lipovsky; grandsons, Kyle and Jeremy Lipovsky-Smith; and brother-in-law, Ray Mertens.
