Lorene York

February 4, 1925 — September 20, 2007

Glenvil resident, Lorene Bernice York, 82, of 505 Winters Avenue, died Thursday, September 20, 2007 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, Nebraska due to complications of PSP.

Services will be Monday, September 24, 2007; 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, west of Glenvil, with Pastor Renee Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Saturday, September 22, 2007; 9 A.M. - 9 P.M., Sunday, September 23, 2007; 1 P.M.-9 P.M. with family present 3 P.M.- 5 P.M. at the funeral home, Monday, September 24, 2007; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 6075 E. Assumption Road, Glenvil, Nebraska 68941.

Born February 4, 1925, Lorene was a lifetime resident of Glenvil and Hastings, Nebraska. Her parents were Henry Claussen Kemper and Octje Artie Cornelius Kemper. Lorene was raised on a farm north of Glenvil and attended Adams County rural school. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Having graduated from Hastings High School in 1942, Lorene continued her education at Hastings Business College. Employment as a clerk in the Spencer Park rental office was followed by a job at the Naval Ammunition Depot. It was there, she met her husband of 60 years, Bernard York. They have lived in the same home since their wedding on February 4, 1947. Lorene enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. She also loved to entertain friends by playing polkas and other music on her electric organ. Lorene was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Glenvil Legion.

Mrs. York was preceded in death by her two brothers, Ervin Kemper of Illinois and Virgil Kemper of Glenvil.
