Loretta M. Boumann

Hastings resident Loretta M. Boumann, 101, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.    

Rosary will be at 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Craig Clinch officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hastings. A book signing will be 1-4 p.m. Friday, October 6, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia Catholic Church or St. Cecilia Catholic Schools. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Loretta was born January 17, 1922 in Wilcox, NE to Conrad and Bertha (Glebe) Eckhardt. She graduated from Ragan High School in 1940 and Nebraska College of Commerce. Loretta married John G. Boumann on October 2, 1943, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Memphis, TN; he preceded her in death on April 11, 1981.

Loretta was a homemaker, worked at Nash Finch, and was a co-owner of Consolidated Motor Freight and Overnight Express. She was a former member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and was a current member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, a former member of P.E.O. Chapter HT, a charter member of Lochland Country Club, Elks Golf Course, and a former member of Southern Hills Golf Course. Loretta enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, reading, painting ceramics, volunteering, and attending social outings. 

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John G. Boumann; and brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Carol Eckhardt.
