Loretta Crawford

Former Webster and Adams County resident, Loretta A. Crawford, 96, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at her sons home in Lakewood, Colorado.

Services will be Friday, November 14, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Harold D. Stromer officiating. Burial will be at Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund. Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2008; 1:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and 1 hr. prior to service at the church.

Loretta was born February 19, 1912 in Rosemont, Nebraska to George and Anna (Benker) Meents. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, Nebraska. She worked for her father in the grocery store in Rosemont for several years. She was united in marriage to James L. Crawford on July 6, 1934. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1994. They farmed, raised livestock and milk cows. She always had a big garden and her chickens and her family was her passion. They retired in 1974 and made their home in Hastings, Nebraska. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was active in Ladies Aid and Bible Classes. She moved to the Village Green in Hastings. As her health failed, she moved to Lakewood, Colorado and made her home with her son and family until her death.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James L. Crawford; son-in-law, George G. Hoit; great-great grandson, Daminon Hoit; two brothers, Ernest Meents; Woodrow Meents; one sister, Goldie and her husband, Hank Stuehrenberg and a brother-in-law, Harry Lampman.
