Hastings resident, Lou V. McKibben, 90, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Saturday, May 29, 2010; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings, with Rev. Dr. Samuel R. Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Friday, May 28, 2010; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
Lou was born December 1, 1919 in Friend, Nebraska to Riley J. & Mable (Miller) Palmer. She graduated from Friend High School. In 1945 she married Charles Kucera and they adopted a daughter, Tena, in 1949. They later divorced in 1954 and he preceded her in death in 2005. She moved to Hastings in 1960. On April 25, 1970 she married Harold McKibben in Hastings, Nebraska. She worked as a checker at Jack & Jill and other businesses for many years until her retirement. She was a member for 50 years of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a 64 year member of the Rebekah's, and the past state president of the Nebraska Rebekah Assembly.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and four sisters.
