Hastings resident, Louis Adolph George Stromer, 93, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Saturday, March 14, 2015; 2:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Renee Johnson officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations, will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, west of Glenvil. Memorials may be given to the Louis Stromer Memorial Fund. Visitation will be Friday, March 13, 2015; 1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., with family present from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the funeral home on Saturday.
Louis was born December 16, 1921 in Glenvil, Nebraska to Henry & Anna (Koepke) Stromer. He served in the U.S. Army from September 1, 1942 until October 19, 1945. Louis married Louise Buhr on March 3, 1948; she preceded him in death in May 1, 2007. He worked for Western Land Roller. Louis was a member of V. F.W. in Hastings and Glenvil. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, his dogs, listening to Partyline and Under the Hood, and watching Wheel of Fortune.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Stromer; son, Steven Louis Stromer; grandson, Samuel Louis Stromer; brothers, Herb, Simon, Victor, Donald, Paul, and Martin; and sisters, Caroline, Carolina, Agnes, Henrietta, and Josephine.
