After a year she decided to go to Business College in Hastings and that is where she met Curt Smith. After three years they were married in Kearney on December 21, 1940 at the Methodist Church. They took a short honeymoon and returned to Hastings to start their life together. Curt soon left to join the Army Air Corps. While stationed in Georgia their first child, Tom, was born. When the war ended they returned to Hastings and purchased Fleet Foote Service which they ran together for many years as Fleetway Service. Louise also worked at Hastings College.
