Hastings resident, Lucille Julina Aspen, 96, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Thursday, May 27, 2010; 7:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 28, 2010; 11:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 26, 2010; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Thursday, May 27, 2010; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings Catholic Schools, or Mary Lanning Hospice.
Lucille was born April 1, 1914 in Fordyce, Nebraska to Frank H. & Anne E. (Steffen) Buschelman. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington, Nebraska. On November 24, 1937 she married Lester M. Aspen at St. Mary's Cathedral in Wynona, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1985. She worked for Brach Thompson and was a sales associate for Schweser's for 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, St. Cecilia's Catholic Church Altar Society, Christian Mothers group, and the YWCA. She also volunteered at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester M. Aspen; son, John Aspen; daughter, Adrienne Gogan; three brothers, Harold Buschelman, Jerome Buschelman, and Siegfried Buschelman; and two sisters, Viola Schulte and Annette Fillian.
