Luella Langenberg

September 19, 1915 — April 24, 2001

Luella Langenberg, 85, of 1235 N. Laird Ave., died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Memorial service will be at Friday, April 27, 2001; 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Carl W. Utley & Rev. Matt Nieman officiating. Private family committal will be Friday, April 27, 2001; 1:00 P.M. in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.

Luella Langenberg was born September 19, 1915 in Campbell, Nebraska to John Peter & Alice (Reiber) Adler. She graduated from Campbell High School and graduated magna cum laude with degrees in Christian Education & Church Music from the University of Dubuque, Iowa. She was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges & Universities. She married Rev. Arnold W. Langenberg on August 11, 1936 in Campbell, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1992. Together they served Presbyterian churches in Ashton, Iowa, Fort Smith Arkansas, Wilmot, South Dakota, Greeley, Colorado and Arkansas City, Kansas. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian National Evangelism Commission, and served on the National Executive committee of Presbyterian Women, National Board of Managers of 'Concern' magazine and co-chaired National meetings of Presbyterian Women at Purdue University. In 1968, she became a staff person in Presbyterian Churches West Central area office of Womens Programs in Kansas City, Missouri and served in that position until her retirement. After retirement they lived on Beaver Lake, Rogers, Arkansas before moving to Hastings, Nebraska.

Luella Langenberg was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rev. Dr. Arnold W. Langenberg, 1 brother, 2 sisters and 1 nephew.

Memorial maybe given to First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, NE for Medical Missions at Medical Benevolence Foundation, Box 671226, Houston, TX 77267-1226

Butler-Volland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
