Lyle Ruge

Former Hastings resident, Lyle G. Ruge, 81, of Prairie Winds, Doniphan, Nebraska, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Prairie Winds.

Services will be Tuesday, December 4, 2007; 10:00; A.M. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, December 3, 2007; 3PM-9PM with family present 6PM-8PM at Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Tuesday, December 4, 2007; 9AM until service time at the church. Memorials may be given to Adams County War Memorial.

Mr. Ruge was born April 21, 1926 in Plainfield, Michigan to Louis & Lelia I. (Bean) Ruge. He served in the United States Army during WWII from October 10, 1944 until August 5, 1946 and the United States Marine Corp from July 2, 1948 until July 1, 1952. He married Irene G. Rants on December 4, 1949 at First United Methodist Church in Hastings and she preceded him in death on October 22, 1980. He lived in Michigan before moving to Hastings from 1952-1953 and back to Michigan from 1953-1961 and returned to Hastings in 1961. He later returned to Michigan and also lived in Florida before moving to Doniphan in 2007. He was a self-employed contractor and also worked for Kealy Construction and Hahn & Hupf. He was a member of First United Methodist Church when living in Hastings. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and attending bible study.

Mr. Ruge was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Irene, brother, Louis Ruge Jr. and a sister, Lilian Ruth.
