Mabel Kinley

Hastings resident, Mabel Josephine (Vavricka) Kinley, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at The Homestead, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, October 17, 2017; 11:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, 1225 North Elm Avenue, Hastings with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Nebraska Department of Corrections Color Guard and American Diabetes Association. Visitation will be Monday, October 16, 2017; 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Mabel was born July 26, 1925, on the farm eight miles north of Red Cloud, Nebraska right off Highway 281 to Vencil & Julia (Jelinek) Vavricka. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Cowles High School. Mabel married Lloyd Kinley on March 2, 1946, at the Methodist Parsonage in Mankato, Kansas; he preceded her in death on June 19, 2007. They had five children that they raised on their farm near Bladen; Julia, Donald, Linda, Roy, and Jerold.

Mabel was a farm wife, mother, and made wedding, birthday, and anniversary cakes for all the relatives, neighbors and friends. Mabel and Lloyd moved to Hastings in September of 1992. She moved to Good Samaritan Village in 2009. Mabel was a member of Bladen United Methodist Church, Methodist Women, various card clubs, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Prisoner of War Organization, Red Hat Ladies, and past member of the Eagles.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Kinley; son, Jerold Kinley; grandchildren, Christopher Koch, Jamie Kinley and Michael Niemeyer; three sisters; and two brothers.
